I’m excited to announce my latest collaboration with Interior design firm Davindi Design, for the The Island Bar in Birmingham’s city centre.
Davindi recently carried out a mini-refurbishment at the venue and having previously collaborated with Davindi on projects with The Victoria and The Rose Villa Tavern, I was called upon to help out with another digital illustration.
The brief was to create an image to be used across the 9 windows that make up the front of the venue. After brainstorming ideas, it was agreed that we’d go ahead with a party island scene that appeared to have been drawn using a series of continuous horizontal lines, with wavy outlines loosely depicting the details.
The illustration was then taken to a sign maker who printed the artwork onto the windows. Davindi also created a series of vinyl prints for the interior, using sections from the window illustration.
The agreed style for this illustration was certainly a bit different from my usual commission work — but I had fun creating something a little bit diverse. The feedback from the launch has been great and the client is pleased with the results.
Check out the Island Bar’s Facebook page for more photos of the refurbishment, or pop in and have a look for yourself over a cheeky cocktail.
