Doodling with HTC at Global Gathering
Posted on August 19th, 2011 in the Events, Projects category

Last month, myself and fellow doodler Aylos, were asked to join HTC Mobiles at Global Gathering festival to do some doodling on a big whiteboard in their promo area at the event. The HTC area consisted of a fenced off chill out zone with a DJ and some beanbag chairs — behind this area were 4 sectioned off ‘pods’ that people could walk through and test out the new HTC Cha-Cha phone while taking part in a range of activities to provide photo opportunities for them to upload to Facebook directly from the demo phones.
When festival goers entered our doodle pod, we created a quick custom doodle to their personal taste so they could use it as a backdrop for a souvenir photo, to commemorate their time at the festival.
We needed to act fast, with little time to refine and plan the illustrations, the result was a range of whimsical, fun and free flowing doodle artworks designed to reflected the brand’s look and feel, as well as the laid back atmosphere at the festival.

It was a different experience for the both of us as neither were used to drawing on white boards, let alone drawing something live in such a short space of time. We had a blast though and the short time frames certainly made for some interesting pieces.
Upon leaving the pods, each festival goer received a goodie bag which contained one of two exclusive T-Shirts with our doodles printed up on them. I was delighted to be allowed to take a set of the tees away with me and have been practically living in the one with Aylos’ design on ever since.
